James Jr is an up and coming MC from Memphis, now living in Florida. He has a steady hustle and has is focused on sucess in the music industry. He already has a library of anthems, and his debut LP “Intent 2 Distribute” is now available on CD and on Itunes. He has a new single in circulation by the name of “Bluetooth” (video below). I got the opportunity to ask James Jr some questions recently, so check out this Epic Interview with James Jr himself.

Hello James JR it’s a pleasure to do this interview with you man. Firstly I would like to ask you to tell the readers a little about yourself, and what you’re doing out there with this music game.

I’m from Memphis, Tn… Blackhaven to be exact! I been making music since about 11. I’m in the music business because i have loved rap for long as I can remember. Hustling comes natural for me, so why not hustle something u love hustling.

How would you explain your sound?

I’ve always tried to have a variety of flavor to my sound. The same track makes me bored even if it’s a good one. My sound is of a dirty south mid-90’s feel, basically very hard street music with a message attached.

So your from Memphis Tennessee, But now your based in Florida. Whats the scene like down there, is it different from back home?

Florida is a lot different from the crib. There are a lot of Spanish and Carribean people down here, so the music has more of a dance flavor. Memphis is majority black so growing up i did most of my activities with other black kids. All black schools, all black parties, etc lol.

How do you feel about the state of rap music right now?

It’s pretty bad! I’m not sure u can call it rap anymore. It needs a new generation of mc’s and it seems like a lot of the older ones aren’t trying to discover any. There’s no message or real content in most of what u hear. People think using punchlines make u a lyracist, you still gotta deliver a subject.

You seem to have a strong hustle going on with the ringtones, videos and digital distribution. Would you say your living your dream or is there still that milestone you want to get above?

I ain’t living a dream. This is work and business. I have my share of fun and that’s because there ain’t much else i rather be doing, productive that is lol. However, it does feel good to see people believe in your talent and actually have things to show from it.

Tell us about your single BLUETOOTH

I was joking around with this chick and that’s how it became an idea. I’m always about my money, but there are a few ladies that i can’t tell no lol… put 2 and 2 together and we both can be happy

What other artists would you like to work with?

Plenty… Project Pat… Cam’ ron… Jeezy… people who i got memories to their music

What are your biggest inspirations?

I don’t have too many outside my mom. She’s a level 5 goon… gave me so much game she deserves credit for a lot. Outside of her i have temporary inspirations, they come and go. that’s life

You seem to have some major label interest, is there anywhere specific you wish to go (label wise)?

That’s a tricky one… So many rappers have beefs… some have a list of people who that don’t associate with… I want to go a label where it’s about the music and the business. I got enough personal stuff of my own unless the label wants to pay me extra for my extra duties. East coast label, West coast label, down south label don’t matter… let’s get money!!
