Its been just over 5 years since the New Orleans-based emcee Curren$y, also known as “Spitta”, has been introduced to the rap scene. One of the early faces of Young Money records, who is now signed to Roc-A-Fella Records/Def Jam, is now set to release his forthcoming album “Pilot Talk”.
Set to apparently make “a quiet rebirth to the dynasty”, Spitta has far surpassed his mid-decade buzz with close associations to platinum producer Ski Beatz, Dame Dash and seemingly brother-from-another, Wiz Khalifa. Over at Complex.com they were given a chance to hear a track by track preview of the album set to release 13th July. Whilst majority of the album is Reasonable Doubt/Camp Lo producer Ski Beatz, Complex focused on a specific rare Mos Def-made track, “Breakfast.”
They say: “”Mos Def supplies a beat that knocks, with horns that ride throughout and a hint of a Jazz swing. Don’t worry though, Curren$y doesn’t switch it up at all, and still talks that pilot shit, bragging about ‘New Orleans this morning, New York this evening’ and creepin’ with side chicks. The album version is updated from the song used for the video, with new ad-libs here and there from Mos.” Interesting, though Mos Def seems to love adding a Jazz vibe just about anywhere. Whether it’ll suit Curren$y, we shall see.
This one dude you would anticipate an album for?
