Drake beef. It’s time to bring the poll to a close and analyze the results. I can confirm that 65% of our readers chose to side with Common over Drake who managed to pull the remaining 35%.

It’s an interesting result because I know that even thought here are people who would appreciate Common’s music more as a whole, many felt like he was in the wrong when it came to his beef with Drake. Although the Epic Network management were in favour of Common, we don’t always like to take sides in these things, and I myself felt like the beef was silly anyway. It was mainly my lengthy connection with Hip Hop that swayed me in Common’s favour as I respect everything he has added to the genre in the years I have listened to him.

The nominees were Arsonal, Calicoe, Conceited, Dizaster, Hollow Da Don, T-Rex and The Saurus. These nominees were based on a selection of some of the best battle rappers out now. Hollow Da Don won with 50% of the vote, with Arsonal coming in second place with 30%.

Dizaster and T-Rex didn’t fair as well as I would have hoped, along with Hollow those are also two of my favourite Battle rappers. I believe that if Hollow Da Don and Dizaster ever square off, it will be the best battle in history.

Hollow Da Don is truly a beast of an MC, with his ability to not only write amazing unorthodox bars, but also mix in freestyles completely off the dome and not skip a beat.

In honour of Hollow winning the poll, here is my personal favourite Hollow Da Don battle for your enjoyment.

One thing we had to at least spare for our eight and a half fans is wishing you all a happy new year, and hoping 2012 will be just as Epic of an experience.

2012 for the Epic Network will hopefully see us in a “back to basics” phase – posts will hopefully continue at a more regular, updated pace, something we had slightly slipped up on a little, bringing you the latest in Movies and Urban Entertainment. Along with that, Epic Tidbits returns for those who are lazy to see through whats happening in the week and just want the top five news instead from every Sunday, or at least, the Sundays we remember to post.

Also the return of “Have You Heard” segments for the indie artists making some noise, plus myself and Gary Swaby will be on Dual Perspective duty once again, pleasing the further six and three-quarters of the fans keeping a check on us via podcast.

We have been very pleased with the progress we had made, coming up to two years since the sites proper debut we have achieved a lot of targets unexpected to happen at this rate. Not only that, we also garnered followers and new friends amongst the music and movie community. We hope that in 2012 we can only get better with your support.

A lot of annoying coding went into this, so I hope you guys enjoy it. You may notice some of the old posts are a bit off, but that’s just because for the next couple of weeks/months we have to spend time making sure all that old content is brought up to scratch with the new look. It’s a lot of work so just bare with us.
