Put it this way: If you liked shiny things and explosions in “Transformers”, this is sort of like that, only to keep it in respect of the classic board/travel game, the fight is at sea, supposedly. Also if you like Rihanna and would like to see how she acts: this is the film to see.

Starring also Taylor Kitsch as Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam, a physical therapist and Hopper’s fiancée; Alexander Skarsgård as Hopper’s older brother, Commanding Officer Stone of the USS Samson and the awesome Liam Neeson Hopper and Stone’s superior (and Sam’s father), Admiral Shane, the Peter Berg-directed movie shows the fight against aliens across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force.

Whilst a 20-second ad was released prior to Super Bowl, an extended 1-minute trailer was actually shown amongst live television, and the trailer did not fail to impress. Showing new scenes and characters gradually interacting, the Avengers (consisting superheroes of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye) are up against unexpected enemies that emerge and threaten global safety and security. Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

It’s a definite watch and one trailer that has us anticipating more than ever. Opening 4th May this year and directed by Joss Whedon, “The Avengers” stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. The film includes a somewhat unique cast, starring the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland. In the film, evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games in the ruins of what was once North America. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss (Lawrence) is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy (Harrelson). If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

In a sense, think “Battle Royale”. The movie itself is likely to be the next trilogy to look out for, so checkout the trailer below and let us know if “The Hunger Games”, released 23rd March this year, is one movie you’ll be keeping an eye on:

With inmates taking control of the floating asylum, the reluctant hero must go through obstacles to complete his mission of bringing the President’s daughter safely back to Earth. As quoted in the trailer: “He’s the best there is! But he’s a loose canon.” As always in your everyday-moody-hero.

Honestly viewing however, this movie just looks fun, as in “Snakes On A Plane” fun. Definite comparisons going around that this is similar to Kurt Russell’s “Escape From New York” though in space, but we’ll leave you all to decide what you make of it.

Starring Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace and Peter Stormare, “Lockout” (originally named “MS One: Maximum Security”) is set for April this year. Checkout the trailer below and let us know what you think:

It looks worthy of a viewing. Unlikely expecting this to be a superhero movie, but a movie more about the cliche of “with great power, comes great responsibility,” which I’m sure one of the students will make mention of saying. Those who are fans of TV series “Friday Night Lights” will remember Michael B. Jordan, which is nice to see him slowly climb his way to deserved-stardom.

The film stars Dane DeHaan, Michael B. Jordan, Alex Russell and Michael Kelly. Coming out 3rd February next month, checkout the trailer below and let us know your thoughts and opinions:

The first film in the trilogy was “Batman Begins,” in 2005 followed by “The Dark Knight,” in 2008 which snagged late actor Heath Ledger an Oscar for best-supporting actor.

I’m missing my colleage Rameez Quadri who often hooks us up with all the latest movie news and information….this post is in honor of him.

The Swedish version which stars Noomi Rapace in a great performance as Lisbeth may be difficult to compare for Rooney Mara, but all eyes will be on her to delivering a decent display, which judging from the trailer she can seemingly hold her own, putting on the accent as well as beating people up in the underground trains. Nice.

Starring also Christopher Plummer, Goran Visnjic and Yorick van Wageningen, this movie is set for 26th December this year – a way of giving yourself a present to watch the movie I suppose for this Christmas. Course if you want a more lighthearted feel of a trailer, you could always checkout The Muppets take on the whole style.

With ordinary citizens beginning to revolt openly, the Qing Dynasty has created a powerful, modern army (the “New Army”) to quash any rebellion. But weapons are expensive, and desperate for cash, the Qing leaders are trading anything they can get their hands on with foreign countries… and selling China’s future in the process. Huang Xing (Chan) has recently returned from Japan, where he has studied the art of modern warfare. When he finds his country falling apart, he feels he has no choice but to pick up the sword, leading an increasingly desperate series of violent rebellions against the powerful Qing Dynasty and the New Army- several with tragic consequences.

It actually looks pretty decent with Jackie Chan himself possibly playing one of his best roles, which may not involve him saying “leave me alone” whilst beating somebody up. Checkout the trailer below and let us know your thoughts and opinions.

It’s honestly a pretty great set of trailers provided by the behind “The Muppets,” from their first “Green WIth Envy” teaser to the likes of spoofing The Hangover with “The Fuzzy Pack” and then Green Lantern “Being Green”. The return of the Muppets is pleasing a lot of people with these spoofs, looking likely to be a hit movie for those fans.

Starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis, Kathy Griffin, Ricky Gervais and Emily Blunt, the film is set for 23rd November this year. Checkout the spoof trailer below and let us know your thoughts and expectations:

The movie is set in the aftermath of the cold war and tells the tale of a spy-hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service. It does look pretty decent with Gary Oldman, who many tip him for gaining a nominee after this, seemingly looking to deliver another great performance on his part.

And whilst Jennifer Lawrence however is stunning, the teaser trailer below has yet to provide anything spectacular, with the movie still in production for even an official trailer yet to be shown off. The film chronicles a dystopic Capitol which requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl, forced to participate in the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) little sister is chosen in the lottery to participate and Katniss volunteers to take her place. Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.

The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne, goes missing the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life.

The movie seems to have a fairly nice casting line-up, starring the likes of Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jessica Chastain, Chloe Moretz and Jason Clarke. As for the trailer itself it doesn’t seem too bad, obviously not a blockbuster of any kind but could be a movie which could surprise many. As a fan of thriller style movies it will be interesting to see how this plays out acting wise plus the direction of filming.
