Kick-Ass Sequel Greenlit

Judging by what writer Mark Millar said on BBC Radio 5 Live, his creation of the awesome movie that is “Kick-Ass” is set for a deserved sequel, thanks especially to it’s healthy DVD sales.

It never made sense how a movie such as “Kick-Ass” as well as “Scott Pilgrim” have been said to have ‘bombed’ in the cinemas. Movies that attract the current wave of generation (or atleast…people my age and slightly above, and to those that are fanatics of the quirky and comics) yet still not fairing much amount of money. Nonetheless, once the comic turned to a movie and ended how it did, those new to the scene were left wanting more of the crazy-yet-perfect action movie.

Mark Millar said: “The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment.

“So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to.”

Good news then for sure. The sequel, “Kick Ass 2: Balls To The Wall” is set to start straight after the first installment, and whilst production on the sequel is ‘nine months away’, a sneak peak at the first issue of the comic book can be found in the debut of Mark Millar’s monthly magazine “CLiNT”, which is out from today.
