While performing in London with Distant Relatives partner Damian Marley, Nas stopped by BBC 1xtra on Tim Westwood’s radio to talk on numerous subjects which included talk on his next solo project, which according to the emcee feels like a ‘magic moment’ in his career. Speaking about who he will possibly produce/collaborate with, the names like of DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, and now Kanye West were mentioned by Nas on potential suitors.

He goes to say: “I’m definitely looking at my [next] solo project as one of the most important records of my life, it’s going to be magic. That’s all I feel. I feel a magic thing happening, brewing. I keep calling it a magic moment. That’s what it’s going to be. I feel that the stuff that I’m writing down, the directions that I’m thinking about going into…it doesn’t even matter what producers [produce it], if it’s Swizz Beatz, if it’s [DJ] Premier, if it’s it’s Alchemist, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, all of these guys are guys that I love and guys that I’ve been talking to about getting in on the project. Actually, Kanye hit me up saying ‘I want to do the album.’ And RZA…Those dudes inspire me to go in there and do what I’m supposed to do at this day and age…I gotta deliver.”

Nas also spoke finally on his situation with Kelis. After countless times dodging certain questions, he opened up to the lanky DJ saying he does not regret the four-years he spent in marriage life with the R&B singer.

“It took me by surprise that today’s game, though, no matter who you are, you can wind up out there. Your business be out there. That’s just the way it is. I don’t know what to do about that, you can’t control it, it is what it is.

“I wish everybody the best; I wish the best for everybody. I ain’t tripping, life is life. I love life. You live and learn. You just keep growing. Yeah. It’s tough bruh, but yo, I dive in. I goes in. I still think marriage is a beautiful thing, it’s a beautiful thing, and you just gotta be strong to weather the ups and downs. I think it’s a good thing to marry.

“I had great hopes. I thought we were going to go through it big, but two people are not, we gotta become one mind in a way. Two people think about life different, they see things different and then you just grow in different directions but I had a great time. Shout-out to my son Knight, he’ll be one tomorrow.”
