The classy Marvel writer and TV producer recently in an interview with ‘Comic Book Resources’ spoke about possibly bringing certain Marvel superheroes to the small screen after noting plans for Marvel to conquer TV. The former producer of Smallville (a DC based hero *gasp*) used that show as an example of making a great story and a successful franchise without actually using a big budget.

For now though Jeph Loeb is keeping his thoughts and plans close to himself and not unveiling anything just yet, though it is like announcements will be made during this years upcoming Comic-Con event which starts in a few weeks time.

He goes to say: “Way too early to say [what shows will be greenlit],” Lopeb told CBR. “This is the challenge of finding the right property. There are some things that are best done on a big budget.

“Marvel has a vast library, and we’re confident that there are characters and stories that lend themselves better to live television. Smallville is a great example of how to do a Superman television show that doesn’t rely on being a big budget movie.”

Sounds good, and even though it is way early to say and think it, we just hope the TV shows that could be do not turn out to break apart and drag like Smallville had done so, luckily for Jeph Loeb he worked on the shows best times existing.

Disney-owned networks ABC and ABC Family will be airing the shows (what that means for UK viewers, I dunno), and Loeb couldn’t be happier. Now he just needs showrunners.

“When we look at the best of ‘genre’ television,” he says, “the stuff that sticks out for me is what’s been driven by the vision of a super talented creator/show runner. Damon Lindelof on Lost. Joss Whedon on Buffy. Al Gough and Miles Millar on Smallville.

“And as it happens, these guys are also big Marvel fans. What we will be looking for is that kind of energy for Marvel Television. People who understand and love both mediums.”

Rumours strongly link Daredevil to get his own TV story, which could work alright. There’s also Ms. Marvel? Which superhero would you want to see on a regular weekly basis? Let us know.
