If you don’t know already, Diggy is the son of Reverend Run from legendary group Run DMC. Couple of months back he signed on with Atlantic Records and even more recently was announced to be apart of Lupe’s ‘super group’ All City Chess Club.
After those two huge things happening in his life, he released a 2 and a half minute music video ‘What They Been Waiting For’ to show…well, what people have been waiting for, apparently…show what he can do, promoting also his mixtape album ‘Airborne’ which is coming soon.

Personally, I’m a little split about this song…I don’t think its crap, but I don’t think its anything special either. Positive thoughts: the beat is pretty cool and he got a nice flow to it. Kind of listening to this over and over it can sort of grow on you, the beat anyways. Negative thoughts however: Looking at him in that video, he’s trying to mimic a style blatantly, I’ve seen Lupe Fiasco move around the same way Diggy is, no need for a clone. Plus the lyrics are quite ‘eh’ in my opinion, calling himself a prodigy is a bit over the top. But the dude is young, new, learning in time i’m sure, hopefully. Just needs to put a little meaning I feel in his words and be himself showing why he’s there with a record label. Avoid being another victim of “Just another rich kid not making sense”

Anyways, give us your thoughts, check out the video below!

Good stuff Ramz..nice to see another opinion on the site. Is it just me or does this video seem kind of cheap? Looks like it was made with a small budget. As for the song…its meh! It’s listenable but nothing special in my opinion. But like it said it might grow on you.

I can accept its cheapness for the fact that its mixtape bound, so in a sense this is kind of just him saying “hey look I’m doing something! I gots a camera, turned the effects to somewhat sepia, and LOOK I DANCE AND SING! tralalala”

but very much agree, there’s nothing to get really excited about at the moment. I’m intrigued, but maybe because I love Run DMC, Reverend Run..

Yea they are legends. And it’s natural for their seeds to try and follow in those adidas footsteps.
