Probably the longest hash-tag title to actually remember, though “Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World” is the latest Focus Features comedy movie to star Steve Carell in what is basically about the last weeks of the end of the world. What seems to fall into the ‘Indie films’ category, Keira knightley also stars alongside Steve with Lorene Scafaria (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) making her directorial debut…
“Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World” displays what people will do when humanity’s last days are at hand. As the respective journeys of Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten. With the asteroid “Matilda” set to hit the Earth in three weeks time, Dodge is a man whose wife leaves him just as the apocalypse rears its ugly head. Desperate to make a meaningful connection before everybody dies, he enlists his neighbour, Penny, to help him find his childhood sweetheart.
It is somewhat a specialty for Steve Carell to play a man going through crisis of some sorts. Excelling in the likes of “The 40-Year Old Virgin,” “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Crazy Stupid Love”, “Seeking A Friend” (shortened down) is likely to portray another humorous role alongside Keira Knightley.
The movie is set for a 22nd June release this year in the States, no word yet on a UK release. Checkout the trailer below and let us know your thoughts and opinions:
