First Eddie Murphy was chosen to to star in an upcoming biopic for Richard Pryor’s life story. However those plans feel through when it was apparently made clear that Eddie wasn’t right for the role. At the time I remember thinking “If anybody can do this role justice, it’s Eddie”, but the newly casted Marlon Wayans wishes to ensure us that he can take such a huge role seriously. When people think of Marlon Wayans as an actor, they think about all the silly comedic roles he has taken. I am sure there are people that over look his true talent as an actor because of his track record thus far. Now that I think about it however, I am sure Marlon Wayans can mature himself enough to handle a career making role such as this one.

If anybody remembers the movie “Senseless”, which Marlon Wayans starred in, he showed signs of pulling off serious acting. Even though that film was still a comedy, it was much more of a mature role than Scary Movie, or White Chicks. Even in the G.I Joe movie, Wayans showed us signs of maturing in his acting. I truly believe now that he will pull off this Richard Pryor biopic, and I am somewhat glad the role has now come to him rather than Eddie Murphy. Murphy is no doubt one of my all time favorite actors, but Marlon definitely needs a role like this to define his career.

These quotes from the man himself show just how hungry he is to impress.

“Look, I want to be able to make the stupidest movies ever, because they make people laugh and they make money,” Wayans recently said with a smirk. “But that’s not all I want to do. And I think I’ve proven to some people — the ones paying attention — that I can do more. Everybody else, well, they can wait and see and make up their mind.”
