Another set of new music has fallen into my inbox in recent times, and we at Epic Network love to help out getting some new sounds heard. In this case, a duo from Michigan going by the name of ‘Flying Without Wingz’ and their new EP released “Neon Midnight”…
This is the second EP which the two hailing from Grand Rapids have released, where the first (“Welcome To The Playground”) was more of an underground sound, this one takes more an approach to fusing Hip-Hop with some electronica/dance rhythms and flow. Whilst they say their influences are from the likes of N*E*R*D, The Neptunes, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and more, listening to a few tracks of the EP instantly got me thinking Black Eyed Peas. The style and attraction that “Neon Midnight” brings rivals that of the recent trend which the Black Eyed Peas have been known for making and garnering its popularity from, dare I say it could be better as their art style can be suited more to the “nerdy” Hip Hop heads, whilst also checking out their their homepage can be attracted to those who love the comic book style, which also relates, music-wise, to the style which Pharrell and his buddies from N*E*R*D would do something like.
But to compare is not an intention – Flying Without Wingz (or FW2) are indeed a fresh, original approach to experimental music, and their “Neon Midnight” EP shows their determination to stand out from the crowd without any fear what-so-ever. Sharing already the stage with the likes of 88 Keys, Kidz In The Hall, Donnis, Izza Kizza, Cool Kids, Juiceboxx, Super Dre and more, be sure to checkout this energetic group in action. If you love the style of hearing Hip Hop which you can really get dancing to, FW2′s “Neon Midnight” is a sure party-starter.
Checkout the tracks below, the tune “Crazy” is a favourite of mine, which something even electronic/bass giants Pendulum would get their heads bopping to:
