For months and months before any confirmed news was made regards to who plays who, Epic Network favourite Joseph Gordon-Levitt was long rumoured to be appearing in the third installment of the Batman franchise “Dark Knight Rises”. Both he and director Christopher Nolan worked together on last year summer hit (and our runner up movie of the year in 2010) “Inception” to which Nolan confirmed a star from that movie will be dragged onto Batman. Strongly linked to be JGL, who was rumoured to play popular villain ‘The Riddler’ or make a daring cameo as ‘Joker’, it was then announced Tom Hardy would receive a role, and since then Joseph Gordon-Levitt carried on with life and the rumours just disappeared…until now…

According to ‘Deadline’ Gordon-Levitt “will be in [Rises] when Nolan starts production this spring”. Just like that they assume this. While they report this, Gordon-Levitt is currently in production of “Looper”, as JGL has not yet been officially announced nor cast into anything regards to anything Batman related. He has however proven himself to be very popular amongst Nolan fans as well as his career lifespan which has generated longtime supporters of the actor.

If that is the case, what could his role be exactly? Surely Christopher Nolan would not go for a third villain, especially when he himself confirms of no Riddler. Or maybe this is a sly move? What if Anne Hathaway as Catwoman is not to be and she is merely just Selina Kyle? That technically leaves room for one more villain and Riddler could yet be a possibility? Or perhaps JGL could be given the role of a good guy, Bruce may need a new tech-geek to help fight crime all over, and even though Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox will return, maybe a younger more enthusiastic braniac comes into play? Or what if we are all deceived and Dick Grayson/Robin comes into play? Maybe Nightwing? Who knows. There is still time and what not till the movies actual release date of 20th July next year.

Either way I for one think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a superb actor who rightfully deserves a role in movies as such, and am glad the possibility that he can appear in the next Batman is back on to talk about again.
